Waned Moon, Darkness – Sean Hul (English)
Waned Moon, Darkness
By Sean Hul
(Seven-Syllable Rhythm)
- Looking at the sky in the darkness of the waning moon makes my heart painful and eager to see the brightness, but the sky just ignores my wish.
- The waning moon’s darkness blankets everything, causing my heart extreme and constant worry. If I wait until the moon waxes, my heart will break. Why does the waning moon keep causing me such suffering?
- The waning moon’s darkness complicates problems for me, making my life sad as the sky swallows up the bright moon, and chilling creatures of all kinds during the night.
- The waning moon’s darkness covers up the earth and makes me anxious to see the light; but the sky still doesn’t care and has no mercy on my hopes.
- The waning moon’s darkness creates hopelessness and gloom but the sky ignores this, as it is happy with its surrounding stars.
- The waning moon’s darkness causes life to be gloomy because the unlucky heart lacks care. Rather, the sky is lucky because it is accompanied by myriad surrounding stars.
- In the waning moon’s darkness, there is no point in trying to solve problems, no matter how hard I struggle; even if I shouted until the world broke into pieces, the sky would not pity me for my misery.
- Pondering these problems in the waning moon’s darkness, I can dimly understand that the sky only enjoys itself with its many stars; when I call for help from the sky, it helps only those stars.
- And the waning moon’s darkness also causes disastrous rains, storms and lightning, chilling my body so my hope and happiness fade away.
