The Journal
In collaboration with the international Cambodian community and an editorial board of scholars and writers, the Department of Comparative World Literature & Classics at CSU Long Beach is co-sponsoring The Nou Hach Literary Journal, to be published on the World Wide Web and as a print edition in Cambodia.
The journal has been named after the great modern Khmer writer, Nou Hach, who helped to establish a high standard of literature in Cambodia during the 1950s. We are grateful to Nou Hach’s family for their permission to use his name for this journal.
The Nou Hach Literary Journal has been established to promote literature by Cambodian writers who write in Cambodian, English, and French. Research on literature, arts and popular culture in Cambodia and the Cambodian diaspora, as well as translations of short fiction and poetry by Khmer writers are also welcome for consideration.
The Journal, based in Phnom Penh, also sponsors yearly literary awards for Cambodian writers, translators, and literary scholars who reside in Cambodia. It also organizes a yearly writers conference in June.
