The First Nou Hach Literary Award Ceremony was held at the Sunway Hotel, June 21, 2003. It was sponsored by the Department of Comparative World Literature and Classics, CSU Long Beach.

This successful event, with over 100 participants including fifteen rural writers, began with welcoming remarks by Teri Shaffer Yamada (Associate Professor, CSU Long Beach) and the Master of Ceremonies Mr Kho Tararith (Sowers Association).

The conference has become very popular with close to two hundred writers attending. Prizes are awarded for the top three poems and short stories submitted for the competition and judged by a panel of literature professors and respected writers.
